A Melbourne managed technology provider is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to handle escalated infrastructure support, project work and technical guidance for customer environments. This hybrid role suits someone with five years of systems experience who can take ownership of server, cloud and infrastructure issues while supporting junior team members. You will work across Windows Server, Azure, Microsoft 365, virtualisation, backup platforms, monitoring and documentation. The position requires a practical engineer who can assess risk, communicate clearly, complete changes carefully and help improve operational standards for supported environments.

Essential criteria:

• Five years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure support or senior technical support roles.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure and virtualisation platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot escalated server, backup, identity, cloud and application platform issues.
• Experience planning and completing approved changes with clear testing, rollback and documentation steps.
• Ability to mentor junior technicians and provide useful escalation feedback without taking over every task.
• Strong awareness of security, access control, backup, monitoring and change-management requirements.

Nice to have:

• Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Veeam, Azure Virtual Desktop or hybrid cloud migrations.
• PowerShell or automation skills for administration, reporting and repeatable operational tasks.
• Microsoft, virtualisation, backup or cloud certification.
