Job Description
A Sydney network services provider is looking for a Network Support Technician to assist with monitoring, troubleshooting and documentation for customer networks. This onsite role is suited to someone with practical IT support experience and a strong interest in networking. You will work with senior engineers to investigate connectivity issues, collect technical information and maintain accurate network records. The role is hands-on and process driven, requiring care when reviewing configuration details, making simple changes and communicating the effect of network incidents to support teams and end users.
Essential criteria:
- Two years of experience in IT support, network support or a technical role involving connectivity troubleshooting.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, wireless networks, VPNs and basic routing or switching concepts.
- Ability to investigate LAN, Wi-Fi, internet, VPN and device connectivity issues using a logical process.
- Experience collecting logs, screenshots, device information, user impact details and configuration notes for escalation.
- Ability to maintain site records, network diagrams, port notes and customer documentation accurately.
- Commitment to following change-control procedures before applying updates or replacing network equipment.
Nice to have:
- Exposure to Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, Meraki or similar network equipment.
- Introductory networking certification or current study toward a recognised certification.
- Experience supporting multi-site customers or working in a managed services environment.
