A Brisbane technology services provider is looking for a Junior Systems Engineer to assist with escalated support, routine infrastructure checks and customer system administration. This hybrid role is suited to someone with three years of IT experience who has already handled desktop and service desk work and now wants broader exposure to systems administration. You will help with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, backup checks, monitoring alerts and user administration while learning from senior engineers. The role requires careful documentation, methodical troubleshooting and a willingness to follow change processes before making updates to customer environments.

The role also suits someone who can balance careful troubleshooting, accurate documentation and consistent follow-through while supporting business users.Essential criteria:

• Three years of IT support, systems support or junior infrastructure experience.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, file services and permissions.
• Ability to review monitoring alerts, backup results, patching outcomes and routine system health checks.
• Experience troubleshooting escalated account, desktop, application and connectivity issues.
• Ability to document technical actions, handover notes, customer environment details and escalation summaries.
• Careful approach to access changes, security expectations, approvals and standard operating procedures.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to Azure, Hyper-V, VMware or backup and recovery testing.
• Basic PowerShell skills for simple administration and reporting tasks.
• Experience maintaining runbooks, diagrams or infrastructure documentation.
